RESI kick-off meeting!


Kick-off meeting of Rural Economic Sustainability Initiative (RESI) project was held on 21st of October, 2016, in Hotel Emerald in Prishtinë/Priština.

The meeting aimed:

  • To present the RESI project objectives, expected results and activity plan for the next three years of the project implementation period.
  • To present Austrian Development Cooperation contribution and strategy in the rural and economic development of Kosovo and also CARE’s work in poverty reduction and gender mainstreaming in agriculture and rural development.
  • To explore opportunities for creating synergies in target Municipalities with other relevant local and international organizations, public institutions, and individuals that have attended the meeting.


In the meeting over 80 participants attended, including Austrian Ambassador in Kosovo Mr. Gernot Pfandler, current and former head of office of the Austrian Development Cooperation Mr.Gunther Zimmer and Mr. Christian Geosits, Mayor of Municipality of Prishtina Mr. Shpend Ahmeti, representatives of CARE Austria and Balkans, representatives from Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development, Kamenicë/a Municipality, Novo Brdo/Novobërdë Municipality, Ranil(l)ug Municipality, local and international organizations operating in Kosovo, and also farmers and individuals from the target Municipalities. The kick off meeting was opened by RESI project team leader Mr. Maximilian Foedinger, who provided a brief description of the project. The session then continued with a series of speeches starting from Austrian Ambassador, who spoke about long tradition and contribution of ADC in the region and specifically in rural development. Moreover, Mayor of Prishtinë/Priština Mr.Ahmeti, expressed his gratefulness for the continuous contribution of the Austrian country towards Kosovo, reiterated his commitment in allocating funds for the rural development in Prishtinë/Priština and ensured impartial assistance for the farmers of Prishtinë/Priština. In addition, other panelists, current and former head of office of ADC spoke for the balanced partnership between all stakeholders and also expressed their beliefs for the successful project implementation. At the end, the RESI project team leader and Project Manager Presentations aimed at providing an overview of the project and its intended activities. They also thanked the contributors for the restless effort done in all these years in developing Kosovo based on shared knowledge. The session was ended with questions and answers that participants had the chance to address to the project staff and also discuss for any potential linkage with the project.
