Women’s Economic Empowerment project


Project Description

The aim of the project is to contribute to the reduction of poverty of women by enabling them to compete on the labour market and start-up their own businesses.The project targets women who have been deprived of the right to employment because of either their social or ethnic background. In the first project year, CARE International Balkans, supports capacity-building of four local civil society organizations “Lara” from Bijeljina,“Maja” from Kravica, “Duvanjke” from Tomislavgrad and “Li-Women” from Livno, while in the second and third year three Roma civil society organizations “Better future“ from Tuzla, “A Roma girl“ from Prnjavor and “Center for mothers Nada“ from Kakanj will be included in the project. In cooperation with relevant local institutions (e.g Centers for Social Work and Employment Offices) the project partners will provide up to 50 women with assistance to create income generating opportunities including vocational training, business advisory support and financial assistance in form of social loans. The social loans will require a financial or in-kind repayment to the community or a family in social need.
