Ten young activists – actors from Serbia created the play Give Yourself a Chance to Know Me through the project “New economic opportunities for returnees and vulnerable categories of citizens in southern and eastern Serbia”.  The aim of this play was to demonstrate the everyday problems of marginalised pupils in schools.

In the period November 2022 – February 2023, Give Yourself a Chance to Know Me was performed 13 times to over 1100 audience members – students, teachers, parents, local stakeholders, in the cities of southern and eastern Serbia:  Vranje, Bujanovac, Niš, Knjaževac, Zaječar, Bor, Negotin, Bela Palanka, Vlasotince, Knazevac, Pirot and Leskovac.

The play was included as the final event of the Program of the City of Vranje to mark February 22, 2023 – the International Anti-Bullying Day. It was performed in the theatre “Bora Stanković” in Vranje for more than 250 students of urban and rural primary schools in Vranje, teachers and representatives of the Working Group of the Network for Combating Peer Violence.

The project New economic opportunities for returnees and vulnerable categories of citizens in southern and eastern Serbia is using the forum theatre methodology to emphasise the problems faced by the children of returnees and members of other minority groups when integrating into the school system. Our goal is to make all participants of the educational process aware of these problems in order to pave the way for their solution.
