Humanitarian Work

CARE Balkans provides rapid and effective humanitarian assistance to people affected by crises, including conflict, displacement, natural disasters, and other emergencies. Our responses prioritize the safety, dignity, and rights of affected communities, with particular attention to women, girls, and marginalized groups who often face heightened risks during times of instability.

Protection and gender equality are central to our humanitarian approach. By applying a gender sensitive lens, we ensure that assistance is delivered in ways that address the specific needs, risks, and barriers faced by women and girls while promoting safe, inclusive, and equitable access to support and services.

CARE works in close partnership with local civil society organizations, community groups, and public institutions to deliver timely and culturally relevant assistance. These partnerships allow us to reach vulnerable communities quickly while strengthening local capacities to respond to crises.

Beyond immediate relief, CARE Balkans connects humanitarian response with early recovery and long-term resilience. By supporting communities to rebuild their lives, strengthen local systems, and prepare for future shocks, we help ensure that recovery efforts lead to more resilient and inclusive communities across the Western Balkans.
