RIGHT TO A FUTURE

“Right to a Future” is a project focused on protecting human rights, promoting gender
equality, and empowering Roma women and girls in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Funded by the
European Union, the project is implemented by CARE International in partnership with the
Roma Women’s Association “Bolja budućnost” from Tuzla and the Foundation “Krila nade”
from Sarajevo, with the support of Action Deutschland Hilft.
The project aims to improve the living conditions of Roma women, girls, and other
marginalized groups by addressing child, early and forced marriages, gender-based violence,
and discrimination. Through education, community engagement, public awareness
campaigns, and cooperation with local institutions, the project works to challenge harmful
social norms and strengthen child protection systems.
Educational activities will be implemented in five communities, engaging young people and
adults in discussions on gender equality, non-violence, and the right to make informed life
choices. Psychosocial support will also be provided to young people, parents, and teachers,
creating safe spaces for dialogue and resilience-building.
In addition, small grants will be awarded to Roma women’s organizations to lead local
initiatives aimed at preventing child marriage and promoting women’s rights. By combining
community empowerment with institutional cooperation, “Right to a Future” will contribute
to sustainable change and ensure that girls and boys can grow up free from violence and
discrimination.
