Refugee and Migrant Response

Refugee and Migrant Response

CARE has been engaged on responding to refugee and migrant crisis since the Balkan transit route has seen a large influx of refugees in 2015. Together with local partner organisation in Serbia and Croatia CARE provided aid to people on the route and those that have been accommodated in the camps and reception facilities. CARE’s activities consisted of food provision, WASH assistance, provision of shelter and protection. CERE continued its response activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2017 and is actively working with its partners in the field today. Considering a changing nature of the crisis, in Bosnia and Herzegovina CARE attempts to address gaps particularly when it comes to immediate needs of the groups outside the camp facilities and is active in awareness raising of the needs of this vulnerable population. Through its activities CARE reached over 17,000 people.

The Refugee Response activities have been supported by various donors and private foundations including: Austrian Development Agency, European Union, Norwegian Government, DFID, German Cooperation, Government of Luxembourg, Latter Day Saints Charities etc.
