Shqiponjat e Dardanes as a sub-grantee of the Kosovo Youth Participation – KYP project implemented by CARE, has realized the project “Inclusive support for Young Girls Entrepreneurs” with the aim to create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for girls from municipalities Fushë Kosova/Kosovo Polje, Obiliq/Obilić, and Peja/Peć, to thrive, study, and excel. The target audience includes young girls ranging in age from 16 to 30 years old to engage in STEM courses and customized sewing.
In November of 2022, Shqiponjat e Dardanes sought out possible participants. The response was encouraging, with 15 girls enrolling in the tailoring course, including girls from non-majority communities, and 30 eager individuals expressing their interest in exploring the wonders of STEM.
Shqiponjat e Dardanes with the financial support of €8,000 distributed from CARE within the Financial Support to Third Parties (FSTP) has obtained a digital printing and embroidery machine and a professional camera marking a pivotal milestone, opening a world of possibilities for the participants, and empowering them to explore digital design and photography.
In January 2023, Shqiponjat e Dardanes formally began the tailoring and design course, carefully setting up the premises with the necessary supplies and equipment. The young women started on their creative journey with the help of a talented tailoring specialist and STEM trainer.
Between the periods of 1 November 2022 to 30 June 2023, Shqiponjat e Dardanes has achieved training 58 young girls in total, from which 20 have participated in STEM training and have been certified.
This activity was implemented within the Kosovo Youth Participation – KYP project with the financial support of the Office of the European Union in Kosovo.
