The initial reason for CARE organization to come to the Balkans is a war that has caused the destruction, trauma, displacement and ethnic hatred. In the early years, CARE has focused on charity work and saving lives. Today’s goal of CARE in the Balkans is to ensure that social, economic and political rights of vulnerable and marginalized groups are recognized and fulfilled, thus contributing to sustainable peace in the region.
