As part of the 15 local actions within the Kosovo Youth Participation – KYP project, today in the municipality of Gjakova and Suhareka, four activities were held by the non-governmental organization Roma in Action – RIA and the non-formal groups of young people from the “Jeta e Re” Gymnasium.
In order to mark International Roma Day, the non-governmental organization (RIA) organized a discussion with key local actors as guests with whom were discussed the engagement of young people from the Roma community and other communities in employment opportunities. Present in this discussion were Mrs. Adea Roka, Director of the Directorate for Culture, Youth and Sports in the municipality of Gjakova, Mr. Arbër Zhubi, Director of the Vocational Training Center in Gjakova and Mrs. Merita Bytyci Kelmendi, Project Manager of the Kosovo Youth Participation – KYP project.
The young people present showed that the limited access to employment opportunities starts from the lack of information and mismatches of the labor market needs with their professional preparation. Among other things, the representatives of local institutions showed that they are continuously working to provide the most suitable modalities for the active engagement of young people in the municipality of Gjakova.
Meanwhile, in the municipality of Suhareka, in the “Jeta e Re” Gymnasium, with the initiative of Erjon, Abelinda, and Dionis, three other local actions were inaugurated within the same school. Through their ideas, they have managed to create reading and theater corners, thus creating spaces for the development of educational activities for school students.
This activities are implemented with the financial support of the European Union.
