On September 12, 2024, the fourth IWKA project roundtable took place in the Municipality of Pristina, following successful sessions in Ferizaj, Junik, and Graçanica. The event, titled “Opportunities for Women in the Agricultural Sector, Property Ownership, and the Specific Needs of Returnees,” ,” aimed to strengthen the capacities of women in agribusiness and address the challenges they face.
With 54 attendees, including officials from Pristina’s Department of Agriculture, Human Rights, Gender Equality, and Community Sectors, the roundtable focused on key issues such as legal frameworks, agricultural associations, and economic opportunities for women. Speakers, including the Director of Agriculture, provided valuable insights on leveraging modern technology, organizing associations, and accessing municipal services.
Key recommendations from the discussions will be submitted to relevant institutions to advocate for improvements in the agricultural sector and integration of returnees. These include:
- Empowering women through training in modern technology and business management.
- Launching awareness campaigns about job opportunities and sector developments.
- Supporting sustainable reintegration measures for returnees in agriculture.
- Promoting collaboration between stakeholders and advancing the use of e-commerce to enhance market access.
The IWKA project continues to drive policy changes that promote gender equality, property rights awareness, and greater economic opportunities for women in rural areas.
The project is financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through Engagement Global GgmbH and is implemented by CARE international and local partners: Kosovo-Women 4 Women and the Program for Civil Rights in Kosovo.
