Representatives of CARE International Balkans and five BiH non-governmental organizations held a partnership meeting today in Bratunac within the project “Enhancing social protection by building capacities of civil society organizations (CSOs) in Bosnia and Herzegovina“, during which they discussed the extension of the project and visited the property of the Association “Maja Kravica”.
The project is implemented by CARE International Balkans and five BiH NGOs with the financial support of the Austrian Development Agency, funds of the Austrian Development Cooperation, and with the aim of providing infrastructure, technical and professional support to partner organizations, with special focus on social enterprises, employing representatives of marginalized groups.
Association “Maja Kravica” is one of the organizations that is strengthened in the direction of providing direct services to the local population. During this year, the social enterprise of this association OZP “Žena” through the project was supported in the construction of the kitchen, the purchase of kitchen elements and utensils, and the construction of a refrigerator for the needs of catering services.
“Today, the partners had the opportunity to see in the crop and already in harvest a hectare of raspberries from which the yield of about 10 tons is expected, the value of it at current prices is more than 40,000 KM. Most of it goes to seasonal workers. Today, we also talked about the catering services of OPZ “Žena”, the extension of the project, and the focuses of all five NGOs during the three months of extension”, said project manager Branislav Tanasijević.
The president of the Association “Maja Kravica” Nada Markovic pointed out that CARE International is the first donor of this association, and that the support is being upgraded and continued from year to year.
“Thanks to CARE and ADA, in addition to support for the kitchen, dishes, refrigerator and paving access to the property, they helped us promote our services, printing a promotional flyer, information board and promoting the flyer on an electronic billboard in the city. In addition, we had support in hiring one worker for a year as a cook “, states Markovic.
The meeting was attended by representatives of five non-governmental partner organizations: the Association of Cerebral Palsy and Dystrophy Patients from Gorazde, the Otaharin Association from Bijeljina, the Buducnost Citizens’ Association from Modrica, the Luna Center for Responsible Democracy from Rudo and the Maja Kravica Women’s Association from Bratunac .
CARE International Balkans and the Austrian Development Agency strongly support social enterprises, which have only recently begun to flourish in Bosnia and Herzegovina, because they see them as an opportunity that regardless of disability, race, education, nationality, all have equal rights and opportunities in employment.
